Investing in massage is an investment in your health. Massage therapy is not just about pampering yourself while vacationing. It's about self-care and being proactive with your health. Massage therapy is about wellness and healthy longevity inside and out.
Relaxation/Swedish Massage - The most common type of massage requested to reduce stress and increase relaxation is Swedish massage, in which the therapist uses oil or lotion with several basic strokes that are applied with light to medium pressure, depending on the client's preference. It is both relaxing and invigorating. It is an excellent way to help rid the body of tension and to achieve a sense of overall well-being. Choose Swedish massage for relaxation to increase circulation of blood and lymph, for relief of pain, improved mood, improved sleep and sharper thinking.
Sports/Deep Tissue - Deep tissue massage focuses on stretching fascia, a three-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds, supports and penetrates all of the muscles, bones, nerves and organs. Deep tissue massage works layer by layer through connective tissue and muscles down to the deepest accessible layers to change posture and create freedom of movement by releasing fascia adhesions and chronic muscle contracture. Adhesions and scar tissue form in muscles because of injury, chronic poor posture, chronic or acute inflammation and repetitive motions. Choose deep tissue massage for chronic pain that is muscular in origin, to improve posture and range of motion. To improve athletic performance, use deep tissue massage off-season as it produces changes in movement. Most often a deep tissue massage concentrates on several specific troubling areas of the body.
The Raindrop Technique - RDT is a sequence of anointing with 8-10 oils and laying on of hands that brings structural and electrical alignment to the body in a relaxing and invigorating manner through the power of essential oils. These oils contain high amounts of PHENYLPROPANOIDS, SESQUITERPENES and MONOTERPENES. This means they are capable of warding off potentially damaging viruses and bacteria while cleansing cellular receptor sites to enhance inter- and intra-cellular communication and improve overall bodily function, capable of deleting or erasing misinformation in your DNA, and finally they are capable of reprogramming correct information in cellular memory to restore and maintain physical and emotional wellness.
Gua Sha - Also a form of deep tissue, this is a medical treatment used in Chinese Medicine and throughout South East Asia. "Gua" means to scrape and "Sha" is the term for the reddish skin rash that occurs as a result of the scraping. The presence of Sha refers to the blood stagnation in the subcutaneous tissues before and after it is raised to the surface of the skin, which resembles a reddish skin rash (called petechiae) or bruising (ecchymosis). The color and intensity of the Sha is both diagnostic and prognostic and gives a lot of information on what is happening in the body. Gua Sha is used to treat and prevent common colds, flu, bronchitis, asthma, and chronic/acute muscle pain. It is also used to detoxify the body and fevers because the scrapping brings excess heat to the surface of the body to be released. The reddish rash is temporary and many find it very relaxing overall.
